Our Story
Zach Unruh's ancestors moved to Kansas in the late 1800s from the Steppes of Russia. They were farmers. His earliest memories are of harvesting wheat with his grandpa, Virgil Wiggers, on his Central Kansas farm. When he was 21, he met his wife-to-be, Janelle, from a farming community in Northern Alberta, Canada, and they married. They lived in Kansas for 7 years. They later had the opportunity to start a hydroponic greenhouse in Northeast Georgia. They bought a 26 acre farm, put up a 2-bay greenhouse and started selling produce to the local markets. They began selling through Atlanta area distributors.
Today, the Unruh family has 5 sons, the oldest is 13 years old and the youngest twins are 5 years old. They are looking forward to raising them on their farm. In fact, they are already helping with planting seeds!

Sustainability
In 2016, we were certified by a third party standards compliance body called Greener Fields Together based in Monterey, California. Admittedly, it wasn't simple meeting all the requirements, but we wanted to stand higher by offering truly safe and delicious lettuce and herb products. For us, that meant documenting our processes, adequately training our employees, and resolving potential agriculture safety problems.
We have continued to prioritize our responsibilities to comply with important safety and quality standards, both nationally and on a state and local level receiving audit certifications through the USDA, the Georgia Dept. of Agriculture, and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
